Who we are
Twenty-four years ago, I picked up my first chink pan. It was new to our area for log homes in Boone, North Carolina, although not new to the world. It was certainly new to us. After a day of trial and error, clothes full of chink, hair full of chink, everywhere full of chink, I swore in many different words I would never pick up a chinking pan again. Little did I know, this would be the niche that set me apart from almost every log home finisher in my area.
Three weeks later, after a little assistance from a Sashco expert, I hit my rythm and would put myself through Appalachian State University by using my skills.
Slowly, we began to move into the new areas—staining, which I was very familiar, would become the second half to our forte of primarily Log Home staining and chinking. But we weren’t finished.
Eventually, my then boss found an old Kernel, a corn-cob blaster that was guaranteed to strip anything from anything. I was reluctant to pick up the loud and obnoxious machine. However, it would become another field of expertise within the next year and rounded our the trifecta or blasting, staining and chinking.
